La Gaviota is only recognizable by a small sign hanging above the door of a business that appears to be closed. The door may be locked, but press the doorbell and it will open to a stairway to the lounge. Definitely not the nicest part of town so use precaution. Often on the streets outside you will see police officers shaking down suspected drug dealers. Really a local spot for Costa Ricans...there are certainly better options for a few dollars more in other parts of town.
